Waxing Vs Shaving // Why You Should Replace Shaving

Food or drink, trainers or heels, dresses or skirts… WAXING OR SHAVING? That’s the question & the struggle most of us ladies face. When you hear the word ‘WAX’ you almost get a shiver, but it’s really not that bad!

Opinions of waxing & shaving are very widely divided, you’ll hardly ever find an unbiased and objective verdict over which is actually better but here’s our verdict…

WAXING

Firstly, exfoliate before you go to your appointment, this will help ensure there are no ingrown hairs after you’ve been waxed. Always tell the therapist if it’s your first time getting waxed in certain areas. If you’re worried about the pain, ask the therapist about alternative wax as a hot wax can be much gentler than a strip wax (especially on intimate areas) but remember this will be more expensive!

Make sure you have 2-3 weeks of hair growth before your first appointment, if your hair isn’t long enough, it will be a lot harder to get the hair out (we say your hair should be as long as a grain of rice)

Don’t just go anywhere, research in to every salon you look at. You need to take this seriously as somebody is going to be putting hot wax on sensitive areas of your body. Don’t shave in between waxes – leave it to grow back in its own way. After waxing the hairs grow back finer & thinner. Over time you’ll notice that your waxing appointments can be left longer, such as 5-6 weeks.

Lastly, don’t be embarrassed to get your intimate areas waxed, therapists see these areas day in day out.

SHAVING

The first method we were taught for getting rid of unwanted hair was shaving, looking back this is the old school and quickest way to do it. Sometimes it’s convenient but the results are very short term and as soon as you’ve shaved, you can sometimes feel the stubble there once again!

Shaving isn’t suitable for all skin types, extra sensitive skin can get easily irritated right after you shave, since shaving removes a very thin layer of your skin along the process. Repetitive usage of a razor causes red or dark spots, that is definitely a con to shaving body hair. If you shave regularly, you will end up removing hair on the surface of your skin not from the roots.

If you’re in a rush, then shaving is done quickly & carelessly which can cause cuts and grazes, a look which you don’t want if you’re thinking of wearing an outfit to have your legs out!
